pitfall/intuition

Recently I've received an acceptance letter and a publishing contract
from the publisher to whom I've submitted my book manuscript. Brief
joy evaporated as I read the contract. It says that I market the book
with my own expense, reasoning that the book has been published before.
When? Then I realized that they meant the book campaign I ran on
Kindle Scout a month ago.

Before running the campaign, I had thought I should find a literary
agent or publisher first. But I didn't want to wait a few months to
get a response from them. So I ran the campaign unsuccesfully which
turned out to be a pitfall that hinders my effort to find
a publisher.

This publisher wants e-book publishing right also. I've converted
my manuscript into an ebook format myself, and I want to keep
e-book publishing right to myself. So I've decided not to sign
the contract. I've published it with Amazon.

The editor of the publishing company says that my book
Infinite Deluge resonates.

  1. The friend with whom I co-wrote a couple of published books sent one of his own to 40 rejecting publishers before publishing it himself. It has been recommended reading on social work courses for many years now. So, good luck

  2. I should’ve continued sending my manuscript to other agents and publishers. But I ran out of patience after two rejections, which is not good attitude for today’s writer. Thank you so much for your advice.

  3. Thanks for posting this! I feel like everyone has been talking up self-publishing so much lately but not really getting into the nitty-gritty details. This is something I will definitely keep in mind in the future!

  4. Im not sure if you have done this already but on Kindle you can do a free promotion for 1-5 days, get it out there and get reviews, plus you can write a blog post to promote book.

134 people have liked this blog, with only 20-30 of them review it would really help your book sales.

I know giving something away for free can be hard as you have put alot of work into it but amazon works on reviews.

Just some info that may help.
