Carson:  “…the terrorists are like rabid dogs.”

An audience:  “Good comparison.  But what do you think America should do about the Syrian refugees?”

Clinton:  “…It’s time to broaden the effort.”

An audience:  “Oh so vague…”

Trump:  “We don’t know who they are.  Keep the refugees in Syria and give them humanitarian aid…”

An audience:  “I don’t know.  At least, that’s a clear statement, Donald.”

Difficult Goodbye

Saying goodbye to your be-loved one, whether it be a person or a tree, is always difficult. This apple tree graced my yard for nearly two decades since I grew it from a sapling. Even the cat loved it. But a disease got it last fall. I hope it will grow new branches next spring.

The Lady in Black

I saw her last night standing outside
my window. The lady from my old memory,
when I saw her I remembered my old glory
I ran out to greet her but she was gone.

For a long while, I stood where she stood before,
envisioning her lovely face. Lady in black, why
did you have to run? What’s there to be shy?
I will wait for you until my time is done.
