Are changing

So are we

Song of wordless Thursday
–Byung A. Fallgren

Green Grass on the White Road
Green watercolor paint splashed
On the snowy road ahead.
I stepped on the brake to get a closer look,
Amazed to see the large patch of
Green grass. Emerald vivid.
Yet they were lifeless,
Finely shredded.
Another surprise–
Dismembered little hooves!
Anything else gone, including the container
Which had been enjoyed
The precious meal.
Shredded grass and the little hooves
Danced in my nightmare.
I would turn that sentiment into
A warning flag and plant it
In the careless driver’s conscience.

Reluctance
Golden leaves on the tree
Unwilling to join
The ones fallen
Nodding
Distant hill

October Snow on the Juniper
For whom October
Dumps lots of snow?
Not for you nor me,
But for the wounded rabbit
Under the juniper that
Needs to be hidden.

I’ve written this poem for children–my first
attempt. Hopefully it can find a publisher like
Cricket. If not, it is okay, I had fun writing it.
Writers must enjoy what they are writing.
In case no one buys it, nothing is lost. 😊

Mountain Brook Cattail
Memory of swamp days
Make me wonder,
If mountain stream is better
than the swamp for me.
The clean brook flows by,
tossing at me a funny look.
I miss the marsh-smell of the old swamp.

Freezing October
White coveralls
Thrown on
Blue spruce and
Golden cottonwood

Difference
In the distance we appear
Blue, red, purple in group.
In closer view,
We are snowflakes
With different songs.
Our difference blends in similarity.
