The Day After Thanksgiving
Generous food,
Greetings, and thanks
Cools as the day wanes.
Spotty naps under the table,
Giblets he has gobbled up,
Gizzard Daddy ate,
Dance in his dream.
Gobbles of turkey
Promises next season,
As gratuity still fresh
With lingering laughter and
Images of
Relatives and friends,
Next door dog howls, lonely,
He waits for his master’s return.
Only if he knew: people tend to
Appreciate their pets more than
Fellow humans and things
They have, except
Thanksgiving day, and
We wonder, “Why?”

The Enhancer
She found it, the male enhancer
For her husband. She hopes it
Would bring back the lost muscle
In the wings of their marriage,
Carry her back to the land
Where they once danced
Nightly tango in the scent of
Hundred of roses of youth.
Would it? She pauses in doubt,
For youth has long been nothing
But the vanished cloud.
Still, there’s a hope, she nods
In recognition of another youth
Called wisdom grows with her age
Like guardian angel of home.
Male enhancer, merely a drop of
honey in the cup of coffee.

Winter Morning
silence
of winter gray
echoes the bare trees
wind chime from somewhere
angel’s song

The Old Neighborhood
Things around us
Are changing
Like molded vegies
So are we
Memories dewed?

Song of wordless Thursday
–Byung A. Fallgren

Green Grass on the White Road
Green watercolor paint splashed
On the snowy road ahead.
I stepped on the brake to get a closer look,
Amazed to see the large patch of
Green grass. Emerald vivid.
Yet they were lifeless,
Finely shredded.
Another surprise–
Dismembered little hooves!
Anything else gone, including the container
Which had been enjoyed
The precious meal.
Shredded grass and the little hooves
Danced in my nightmare.
I would turn that sentiment into
A warning flag and plant it
In the careless driver’s conscience.

Reluctance
Golden leaves on the tree
Unwilling to join
The ones fallen
Nodding
Distant hill
