Mint

I wrote this journal last May.   Now that my yard is blanketed with 2-inch snow, I find it refreshing to read, feeling the warmth of the minty spring.  So, here it is to share.

Mint, mint, everywhere!
Sorry for ignoring you there
Your humble existence
With noble scent
Charmed me now
Inhaling you
Habitually
Lost in
Romance
Lilt aloft

A few years ago, I picked a little stem of mint from a friend’s garden and planted it in the back yard of my house, and then I forgot about it.  Now, it has spread everywhere!

According to my herbalist friend, mint is good for headache.  Paste a fresh mint leaf on the  part of the head where the pain is most severe.  I seldom have headache so I never used it but I would try it when I need it.

Personally, I like to sniff the scent of the fresh mint, while strolling in my yard.  Not only does the luxurious scent lifts my mood, but also evokes romantic imagination. 🙂

Lame Youth

He stood there in the parking lot, dressed in
Worn jeans and shirt, waiting for someone,
Anyone, when he saw me he breathlessly
Cadged for change

I’d seen him many times before
I pretended not know him
Turning, I heard his rueful gabble
To others, one after another,
Like his many primeval cousins

He followed me in my dream
As I pondered about his
Reasons and real needs
That was much more than
Some lousy coins

His shattered youthful ambition
was reaching out, wishing to be
whole again when he stood there
Lost and confused, pleading,
For he couldn’t put it together
Alone

*Drug addiction is a huge problem in this country, especially among young people.  Something must be done.  The presidential candidates tout about it.  Whoever will be elected president in 2016, he or she must do to fix the problem.  Discipline, however, should start at home.  As we all know, children learn from their parents.  Often, that wasn’t enough, but making an effort to steer them in right direction is better than ignoring.  Sometimes, even grown children need some attention from the parents.

Past

Past is merely a slice of whole
Even if many memories are hidden
In every corners of deep inside
Judging the entirety by that sliver
Is imprudent.

Bottom of that chasm a part of
One sobs, wishing it were cocoon,
Reverse the wrong, metamorphose
And fly out into the bright future
Who would judge no-criminal by the
Little ghost in the past?

Word Matter

img_0997

the arrogant word
to the innocent girl
‘come back
when the bosom
grow full’

then waited
many years
but she
never
returned

memory of youth
blushes
the face
with shame
regret

Is there anyone who hasn’t said something inadvertently to hurt someone?
Occasionally we all do.  Time dilutes toxicity of harsh word.  But some word is too strong to be forgiven.  Worse, sometimes it changes your life against your favor!
